OUR ANIMALS
- MEET SOME OF OUR FRIENDS

We have passions for many things, but our horses...well, they are our number one passion. We love spending time with them, not necessarily horseback riding, but we have discovered that just standing with them, giving them hugs, petting them, grooming them, walking with them, and talking to them is a powerful mindfulness exercise. Horses are such beautiful creatures, and our horses are indeed our friends and companions. Spending time with horses is a non-traditional form of meditation; it's magical!

MARS

Mars is the newest member of our family; he was born in June 2024. His mother Móska, is exceptionally nurturing and takes super good care of him. He is quite the personality. Sometimes, he sprints around the grass field, jumping and hopping, and sometimes, he comes and "talks" to us.

MERKÚR

Merkúr is a superstar! He is a gorgeous and well-built horse and has competed in tournaments. We sometimes call him "sexy" because he reminds us of a pop song from the 90s - "I'm too sexy" - because he is gorgeous and he knows it!

JÚPÍTER & NEPTÚNUS
(AKA "Júbbi and Nebbi")

Júpíter and Neptúnus are brothers and are always close to each other. When it's just the two of them, it's like they are glued together; when they are eating - they are side by side, and when they are resting - they are side by side. Horses generally have very soft snouts - but Nebbi has the smoothest of them all! This is quite funny because nebbi is a word for nose in Icelandic.

PARADÍS & VENUS

We call the sisters Paradís and Venus our "Disney horses" because of their looks and personalities. They are such beauties, and their personalities are so vibrant! When we call their names, they usually come running to us, and they are such girls, always ready and willing to do something with us.

SNÆLDA
AKA "The Gatekeeper"

Snælda is one of a kind! She is one of our most intelligent horses! When we put Snælda in the stable, we have to take special measures to lock her sty because she knows how to open the door to her sty—and when she does, she also lets all of the other horses out! So we always have to tie her lock with an extra rope. She also jumps over or crawls under all sorts of fences—if she wants to go somewhere, she always finds a way!

SVESKJA

Sveskja is one of our dearest sheep. She is pretty old, but we hope to have her for a little longer because she's the sweetest thing! She loooooves to cuddle - and she will stand with you for hours, as long as you just keep cuddling her. Sveskja means "prune" in Icelandic. We had a fruit theme when naming the lambs in the spring she was born.

LAMBI

Lambi almost died during birth. Árný is a registered nurse who worked for many years at the ER, so she knows resuscitation and thankfully managed to save his life. He was born premature and tiny, but he had a strong will to live and started to thrive shortly after birth. He is one of our favorites because of his strength and stamina. He is Svanga's offspring, and she's super protective—until she sees food, she forgets everything else!

SVANGA

Svanga is always hungry and would risk her life for an extra bite to eat! We have a couch in the stable, so we can sometimes relax there. She jumped over the couch to catch a small bite of sheep candy that fell on the floor behind it. It was quite a clumsy stunt, and she landed on her back, but thankfully, Icelandic sheep are sturdy, so she wasn't injured.
